Program Description
The ECSE certificate meets course requirements for the Birth through Age 6 teaching license. This program prepares individuals to work in home visit programs for parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities or as a teacher at a public or private preschool program for children with and without disabilities. Candidates' learning will be guided by philosophies that support the interactive nature of child-environment exchanges and their importance to children's ongoing developmental progress. Candidates will learn assessment, evaluation, child intervention strategies and family interaction strategies to aid in identifying and providing services for young children with disabilities.

Admissions Requirements
The GRE is not required for graduate admission consideration to licensure programs.
A minimum of 30 credits is required, about one-third of which must be taken at the graduate level.

Notes
Courses are available that lead to eligibility for licensure in early childhood special education and parent education. It is possible to combine course work and to receive more than one license. It is the students responsibility to consult with the child and family studies department and state licensing agencies for current licensing requirements.
