Program Description
The Bachelor of Arts in Spanish offers students a unique opportunity to learn, understand and appreciate aspects of real life in the context of the language and cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. A BA degree in Spanish helps students develop critical and communicative skills as well as inter/cultural competency. Our program prepares students to apply their knowledge in various professional fields such as medicine, science, psychology, law and law enforcement, and business in the local and international community. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world and the demand for bilingual speakers in the USA has been steadily growing.
Our small classes are taught by experienced faculty, who are supportive of student needs. We use a variety of delivery methods: face-to-face, hybrid, online asynchronous, and synchronous. Our faculty are fully committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, we extend learning opportunities into the community through internships, service learning, and volunteer experiences. Various short and long-term study abroad opportunities in Spanish-speaking countries exist at SCSU.
