Program Description

The Hospitality and Tourism major prepares students for careers in one of the world's fastest growing industries. Graduates of the program work for major companies and corporations in Minnesota and throughout the United States and abroad in such areas as travel planning, lodging, airlines, attractions/events management, corporate travel, cruise lines, government, tour operations, destination management offices and many more. Through class activities, applied research projects, site visits, and invited speakers, students gain the necessary tools and experience to build successful careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Cognate Requirement (15 credits): course, course, course, course or course, course or HTSM 397.

Practical Field Experience (6 credits): course.

Student selects either

HOSPITALITY Emphasis (15 credits): course, course, course, course, course, course, course, course, or course

or TOURISM DEVELOPMENT Emphasis (15 credits): course, course, course, course, course, course, course, or course.

All students choose REGIONAL Electives (6 credits): Select from course, course, course, course, course, course, course, or course.

To satisfy the UDWR students in the Hospitality and Tourism major will need to complete course Hospitality and Tourism Seminar with a grade of C" or better."

All of the following must be completed with a C grade or better: course, course, course, course, HTSM 434.

Develop a foundational knowledge and understanding of hospitality and tourism the industries and organization that support HTSM, and the global impact of HTSM on people, places and societies.
